Who We Are

Clymu is a social discovery and coordination service for climbers. For this policy, "Clymu," "we," "us," and "our" refer to the operator of the Clymu service, currently based in Israel.

For privacy questions, deletion requests, and data rights requests, contact privacy@clymu.com. For support, contact support@clymu.com. For urgent safety concerns, contact safety@clymu.com.

Overview

Clymu helps climbers discover and coordinate with climbing partners. To do that, we collect profile, safety, location, plan, message, and account information. This policy explains the first public-beta version of that data use.

Age Requirement

Clymu is currently for climbers 18 and older. If you are under 18, you cannot create a Clymu account during beta.

If you are 13 to 17 and choose to be notified later, we collect only your email address and date of birth so we can tell you when you become eligible or when Clymu launches a youth-safe version. If you are under 13, do not submit your own email address; ask a parent or guardian to contact us instead.

Information We Collect

  • Account information, such as email address and sign-in provider.
  • Profile information, such as name, birthdate, gender, home base, climbing experience, grades, gear, transport, availability, and partner preferences.
  • Photos you upload or choose from your sign-in provider.
  • Location information, if you choose to share it, including device location, approximate nearby presence, and home-base information.
  • Plans, join requests, matches, blocks, reports, hidden profiles, messages, message attachments, and notification preferences.
  • Feedback, support requests, and safety reports you send to the Clymu team.
  • Technical information, such as device, browser, IP address, log, authentication, security, and diagnostic information generated when you use the service.

How We Use Information

  • To create and show your profile to compatible climbers.
  • To support discovery, matching, plans, join requests, messaging, notifications, and account settings.
  • To keep the app safer through reports, blocks, moderation, account review, fraud prevention, and abuse prevention.
  • To improve the beta, respond to feedback, debug issues, test features, and understand product usage.
  • To send eligibility updates if you joined the underage waitlist.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

Legal Bases

Where privacy law requires a legal basis, we process information to provide the service you request, based on your consent, for our legitimate interests in operating and protecting Clymu, and when necessary to comply with legal obligations.

Location Privacy

Clymu is designed around approximate, opt-in location. Nearby discovery should not expose exact continuous location to other users. Location controls in the app may let you hide location, show an approximate area, or use broader city-area precision.

Do not use Clymu location information for emergencies, navigation, rescue, access decisions, route conditions, weather, or other safety-critical decisions.

Messages And Safety Reports

Messages and reports are used to operate the app and keep users safer. Reports and blocks are not shown to the reported person. The Clymu team may review reports, messages, profiles, photos, and account activity when investigating safety, abuse, fraud, legal, or policy concerns.

How We Share Information

We may share information with service providers that help us run Clymu, including hosting, authentication, database, storage, email, maps, analytics, crash reporting, moderation, and security providers. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate abuse, or in connection with a future business transfer.

Service Providers

Clymu currently uses Supabase for authentication, database, and storage, Google for Google sign-in, and PostHog for product analytics (which app features get used, so we can improve them). We do not use PostHog to record your screen, and analytics data is not used for advertising. Future beta infrastructure may include crash reporting, email, maps, and moderation providers. We are responsible for choosing providers carefully, but their services are also governed by their own terms and privacy practices.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep account and profile information while your account is active. Messages, plans, reports, blocks, security logs, and moderation records may be kept as needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, investigate safety issues, prevent abuse, and comply with law.

Underage waitlist information is kept until we notify you that you are eligible, launch a youth-safe version, or receive a deletion request. Backup, security, and audit copies may persist for a limited period after deletion.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account from the app. Deletion removes your profile and related app data according to the deletion workflow available in Clymu. Some records may be retained if needed for safety, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or abuse-prevention reasons.

You can also request deletion by contacting privacy@clymu.com.

Your Choices And Rights

You can edit profile information, hide or reduce location visibility, block users, report safety concerns, pause matching, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise privacy rights, contact privacy@clymu.com. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

International Transfers

Clymu may process and store information in countries other than where you live. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, but no online service can guarantee complete security. Please use caution when sharing personal information with other users.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this policy as Clymu changes. If we make material changes, we will provide notice as appropriate, such as through the app or by email.
